With perceptive lyrics, beautiful melodies and dynamic vocals, Liz's songs evoke a strong emotional response from her listeners. Her live performance showcases her ability to connect with a wide range of people – through stripped-back songs that share meaningful stories.
Her most recent offering is the children’s EP, Beeware. This is being launched at the Out of the Box Festival, Australia’s biggest theatre festival for children, in June 2008. Liz is acting and singing her songs in one of the feature performances, also called Beeware.
In 2005, Liz launched her new CD Hush in Brisbane, followed by a national tour. Hush received an Arts Queensland Grant, with the title track being called “stunning” by Noel Mengel of the Courier Mail. At the end of 2004 Liz entered the Fretfest Singer/Songwriter of the year award, and as reported by ausmusic.org, “her angelic vocals and heart-felt subject matter left no dry eye in the house to take out the 25-years
and Over Category.”
Stitches was Liz’s debut CD, which received a number of accolades. The title track was chosen as the opening song on a CD compilation called ‘Our Backyard’ (2005), sent to every community radio station in Australia. 'Declarations' placed 1st in Queensland and 3rd in Australia in the Coffee House category of the Australian Songwriting Association Awards (2003), and Liz shared songs from Stitches in an extensive East Coast tour in 2003.
Liz has also been a vocalist and songwriter for bands such as Triple J Unearthed winners ‘Ode to a Goldfish’ (1997) and graduated with a vocal major in Contemporary Music at Southern Cross University in Lismore (1996). She has performed at the Woodford Folk Festival three times, which is Australia’s largest folk festival and has featured artists such as Ani DiFranco, The Waifs, and Ember Swift. |
